Illustration of products can be important when 1) there are no product photos available and 2) when an illustration can better illustrate features than the actual photo.

Out of necessity I began taking product photos for web and print publication. It is time consuming and painstaking getting lighting and angles exactly right but it is gratifying when a product turns out looking just the way you hoped it would. Designing logos is not a specialty but branding is critical to the success of a marketing campaign and the choice of a logo should accomplish a lot of things so it has often fallen to me to try to blend function and art to create a memorable company mark. It should be immediately clear what the company's about so I generally like logos that use the company's name. Also, the style sets the tone for whether it's highly corporate, industrial, slick with high ticket items, or fun things like games. I have worked with full time graphic artists who have produced excellent logos, like the new one for Imperial Wars but here's some of the ones that I have designed. Logos always seem to have difficult births.
